Died" is the final Alice in Chains song recorded with lead singer Layne Staley, before his death (in 2002). The music to the song, along with the more famous, "Get Born Again" was originally written for Jerry Cantrell's solo debut Boggy Depot in 1998. However, the song was shown to Staley, who ultimately wrote lyrics for the song, and recorded it with the band in 1998. The song is thought to be about Layne Staley's deceased girlfriend Demri Lara Parrott.
